Valeriy Karpuntsov said, “Our strength lies in a very good understanding of the law that can be actually called “an instruction on how to influence the elections”. The authorities have tools to adjust votes on each stage, from nomination of candidates to evaluation of the results.
Heal of Legal Department stressed that “UDAR” party already identified almost all loopholes in the law, which the authorities will try to use in order to rig the results. One of the mechanisms is the use of technical parties during the formation of the precinct election committees. The majority of candidates included on their lists merely do not exist; they are just deadheads. Valeriy Karpuntsov said this technology was blocked thanks to “UDAR” party representatives, so the authorities won’t be able to use it. “Our representatives studied lists of candidates who had been nominated to the precinct election committees by pro-government parties. It turned out that they had people who never even known about their involvement in the work of the election committees,” added Lead Lawyer of “UDAR” party.
Valeriy Karpuntsov named a technical ballot manipulation at the vote counting stage as another mechanism of falsification. He urges to monitor the ballot counting even when committee members show a ballot and after announcing who an elector voted for put it in another pile of ballots in line for counting. Valeriy Karpuntsov said, “Our representatives reported such facts during the elections in Obukhov and prevented the falsification. Sure, we will be simultaneously counting votes; however, observers should be aware about all tools for falsification.”
The observers and the voters can find more tips on how to prevent stealing on http://2012vybir.com.ua. Valeriy Karpuntsov summed up by saying “We are working together with this resource that stores videos, almost all samples of applications, complaints and appeals. It has simple explanations on how to properly verify one’s name in ballots, control their issue, cast votes, prevent violations and register as an observer. Each citizen should be responsible for protection of the election results.”
