Law Enforcement Continues to Put Pressure on “UDAR” Candidates

“UDAR” candidate in single-mandate district #164 Vitaliy Lomakovych appealed to Kyiv City prosecutor’s office as well as the Head Office of Ministry of Internal Affairs in the capital regarding the pressure put on him by the law enforcement.

The candidate is demanding to stop violations of the current law, specifically the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine. According to Lomakovych, on October 9 several unofficial sources reported to him that a criminal investigation (#18590) was initiated against him several weeks prior to the reports. At the same time, the Code says that law enforcement should notify the subject of the investigation and provide a copy of the respective decision immediately after initiation.

According to Lomakovych, the case against him was commissioned by his opponents just to discredit him in the eyes of his voters. “There is no information that would suggest any illegality in my actions, and I categorically declare that criminal investigation against me is baseless and was initiated in violation of article 94 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine,” said Lomakovych.

The candidate promised to use all available legal means to protect his honor and dignity, including challenging the illegal resolution on criminal investigation. Lomakovych’s first demand in his letter to the heads of law enforcement agencies is to provide him with a proper official copy of the scandalous resolution.

“UDAR” party suggested that the scandal is related to Lomakovych’s political activity in the district.
