Vitaliy Klychko: Parliamentary Immunity Used to Avoid Liability for Violation of Law

“UDAR” Party will initiate a law that would allow voters to pass a vote of no confidence on MPs and call them back in case they fail to fulfill their duties. The statement was made by the Leader of “UDAR” during his trip to Cherkassy.

Vitaliy Klychko said, “The procedure for public control and expulsion should apply not only to MPs but also judges, prosecutors, and other government officials if they do not act in the public interest.”

Most current MPs protect their own interests, and people who voted for them lose control of the government because of deputy legal immunity. “I personally don’t need such immunity. For many MPs the immunity is a way to avoid liability for fraud and breach of law for the sake of personal enrichment,” said the Leader of “UDAR”.

As part of his regional visit to Cherkassy Oblast, Vitaliy Klychko met with residents of Cherkassy, as well as Shpola, Smila, and Chyhyryn.
