"It is very important for us that Ukrainian Diaspora all over the world, especially in the EU countries, strongly support the introduction of personal sanctions against key persons of the Yanukovych regime and actively appealed to the governments of their countries of residence", Klitschko said in the letter to the Diaspora.
Leader of UDAR pointed out that the desire to change the system, whose actions have long gone beyond the legal framework, brought millions of Ukrainians to the streets all over Ukraine. "The patience of Ukrainian citizens has exhausted. They do not want to live in a country ruled by a corrupt regime whose leaders’ main purpose is exclusively personal gain, which is done through budget plundering and raiding independent businesses", Klitschko said.
According to the leader of UDAR, the actions of the world and European democracies have extraordinary importance for Ukraine in this struggle. "We believe that the introduction of personal sanctions against key members of the Yanukovych regime will greatly help in our fight for justice and the rule of law in Ukraine", Vitali Klitschko added.
The party leader said UDAR is forming a list of officials who participated in the beating, wrongful conviction and prosecution of activists of the EuroMaidan. "This list is published on the website of the party. It is constantly updated, but its current version can be used for appeals to the governments, parliaments and other institutions of democratic countries in order to implement personal sanctions", the leader of the party said.
Klitschko also thanked the Ukrainians in the United States, Germany, Portugal, the UK, Austria and other countries who had rallied to attract attention of their governments to the need to put pressure on Ukrainian officials guilty of corruption and violation of human rights.
"I am confident that together we can conquer evil and make Ukraine a thriving democracy ", Vitaly Klitschko said.
