Klitschko to Yanukovych: Stop sheltering behind Special Forces

14.01.2014 11:46

Stupid decisions of the courts, use of law enforcement bodies against people, failures in social policy and the economy are the evidence that the government led by Yanukovych and Azarov must resign. And the citizens of Ukraine will achieve this, the leader of UDAR Vitali Klitschko said at a press briefing in the Parliament.

“The attempts to divide Ukraine failed. Authorities cannot say that the representatives of a certain region came to the Maidan. The whole country took to the Maidan. “Our patience has snapped!" say people in Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Cherkassy”, the leader of UDAR said.

He addressed personally Yanukovych. "It’s enough to shelter behind special forces! The number of crimes, committed by your order or on your behalf, has exceeded the critical level. Absence of adequate response from the President means that he shares responsibility for the blood in the streets of Ukraine and for the wrongful acts against the activists which happen every day", Klitschko said.

The politician expressed confidence that the Ukrainians would achieve the fulfillment of the demands the Maidan has been standing for almost two months.

Klitschko also asked the police, prosecutors and judges to choose whether they are on the side of the people or criminals at power. "Now it is a critical time, the time to make a decision. Who are you with? If with people, ensure the fulfillment of legitimate demands of the people. If with criminals, be ready to bear responsibility", the leader of UDAR said.

He also noted that UDAR demanded to create a parliamentary investigative committee that will inquire into all cases of beatings of activists.
