Klitschko says government deliberately delays return to Constitution of 2004

The government stalls the issue of the Constitution of 2004 restoration, UDAR leader Vitali Klitschko said on Channel 5 live broadcast. He stressed that Maidan Council had unanimously decided on return to the Constitution of 2004, which is in the list of Maidan demands.

"The government is trying to temporize while deliberately encouraging opposition to prepare a new version of the Basic Law. They say, prepare and agree on the Constitution, then we will pass it. This is not the right way. A competent lawyer understands that it is impossible to write Constitution during a week or two. Now the main challenge we are facing is how to solve political crisis in the shortest possible time," Vitali Klitschko pointed out.

The politician reiterated that the only person who can now take concrete steps to resolve crisis is President Yanukovych. Nevertheless, he does not attempt to resume negotiations. "We were supposed to meet on Monday. However, there are no signals so far," Klitschko said.
