The parties discussed the political situation in Ukraine after the victory of the democratic forces and resignation of Yanukovych. Vitali Klitschko outlined the main challenges the coalition in parliament is facing, including political and economic crisis. He also stressed the seriousness of the events in the Crimea. He pointed out the attempts of Russia to destabilize the situation, violating the airspace of Ukraine and ignoring the agreement on the lease of naval facilities for Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine .
John Baird, in his turn, said that Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper set the mission to Ukraine to reaffirm solidarity of Canadians with the people and a new government of Ukraine. The Minister pointed out that Canada is ready to assist Ukraine, in particular in to resolve economic issues and facilitate cooperation with the IMF. In addition, he stressed that Canada is ready to assist Ukraine in conducting democratic elections and establishment of democratic standards.
