"Every Kyiv citizen sees the decay in our capital. To get out of this crisis , a power vertical is needed. For more than two years, Kyiv had no mayor and self-governance tools. The popupation was deprived of a right to influence the process. I would like to appeal to the Batkivshchyna faction MPs. Your reluctance to support this move seems strange," Vitali Klitschko said.
The MPs should allow the people of Kyiv to elect a mayor, who would be able to implement the plans, which Kyivans demand. "They ask for a comfortable, clean, and modern city. Kyiv is a face of our country. Changes in Ukraine should start from the capital," UDAR leader highlighted.
After the Parliament rejected the bill, Klitschko in comments to journalists stressed that the separation of a mayor and a chief KSCA positions is inefficient, since two teams compete against each other. "Unfortunately, our bill was ignored by Batkivshchyna faction. We postponed the voting for tomorrow. They want to carry out the bargain like at the bazaar. They propose that a package of bills of two rounds elections and merging positions of a Kyiv mayor and KSCA chairman. These are some double standards. Earlier, Batkivshchyna submitted a similar bill on office merger and today their position has changed," Vitali Klitschko pointed out.
When asked what, in his opinion, caused such changes, UDAR leader said, "It can be explained only by the fact that the head of Kyiv City State Administration has already been appointed. This is a representative of the Batkivshchyna party. And it turns out they are more interested in positions," the politician noted.
