Klitschko says amnesty is out of the question unless illegal arms are laid down

Amnesty for terrorists can be considered only after armed rioters lay down illegally seized arms, withdraw from occupied buildings and stop terrorizing civilians, leader of UDAR Vitali Klitschko said at parliament.

Klitschko emphasized that restoration of peace is very important to show both sides the path of understanding. "But I would like to make it clear, it has to be the way for peace, not flirting with certain groups in society. Even now militants recognize that their actions are not supported at Donbas. It is time to dot all the i’s,” UDAR leader said.

Vitali Klitschko noted that before the election a set of laws to prevent punishment of rioters would be registered. He stressed that government draft bill must serve the basis in this issue and should be quickly finalized. UDAR leader is convinced that it is necessary to examine provisions, which propose to exempt from liability. "Those who fired at children or were involved in torturing people must not escape the responsibility. I warn once again, do not try to speculate on an armed confrontation. There is only way that leads to peace – lay down illegally seized arms," Klitschko underlined.
