"I want to report to the Kyiv community about my first steps as a Kyiv city mayor. Kyiv city council has begun its work, deputies have received mandates, profile commissions formation is underway, and soon deputies will elect the council’s secretary," the mayor said.
According to Klitschko, one of the first decisions of the city council was to set a new procedure of election of community members to the economic companies.
Klitschko added that Kyiv city council had formed a temporary commission to inquire into all questionable decision of the city authorities, starting from 2006. "We know that a similar commission formed at the parliament had some progress, but Yanukovych government did their best to shelter corrupt schemes. I am confident that the commission will be able to return illegally expropriated assets to the Kyiv citizens," the mayor underlined.
Klitschko stressed that one of the priority decisions was to withdraw all representatives appointed by Chernovetskyi – Popov teams. "We have withdrawn the people appointed by Chernovetskyi or Popov, due to whom the city could have lost control over Kyivenergo, Kyivgas, and Kyivmiskbud companies. We had promised to do this during the election campaign and we have fulfilled it in our first decisions," Klitschko said.
Klitschko told that yesterday he had visited several city districts and instructed to deal with illegally installed kiosks and unregulated street trade. "I am grateful to the members of the Shevchenkivskyi district administration and law enforcement agencies, as the first step has been done and the exit from Lukianivska metro station was uncluttered. Trade must be systemic and civilized. Anyone who is willing to trade, must do so in relevant areas," UDAR leader highlighted
In addition, Klitschko announced that KSCA would present a report on the performance of the Kyiv economy on June 16. "Overall, we definitely need to audit and understand in hat condition the economy of Kyiv is. It has to become a point of reference so that in 100 days we can report to the people of Kyiv what we will have done," Klitschko noted.
Mayor promised to organize such meetings with journalists on a regular basis. "Transparency and accountability of authorities and meticulous work of journalists will prevent corruption. I want to assure the people of Kyiv, that the city will be comfortable and will live by strict rules," Vitali Klitschko emphasized.
