UDAR urges to consider and adopt legislation on improvement of anti-terrorism measures

UDAR calls on the parliament to consider and adopt legislation on improvement of anti-terrorism measures, head of UDAR parliamentary faction Vitaliy Kovalchuk said during the coordination board of Parliament.

Kovalchuk pointed out that it is essential to restore peace in Ukraine, and provide adequate defence capability of the country and force terrorists to surrender and deprive of any support of local residents. "Liberated places should return to a peaceful and secure way of life. This requires coordination of law enforcement and civilian agencies. Therefore, we propose to consider and support draft bill 4912," UDAR faction head said.

He emphasized the importance of human dimension in combating terrorism. Vitaliy Kovalchuk said that terrorists’ atrocities forced thousands of people to leave their homes and seek refuge in other regions of Ukraine. Moreover, he added, people of Crimea continue to leave the peninsula, fearing to stay in the territory, temporarily occupied by Russia. "We have to help these people," - Kovalchuk underlined.

He informed MPs that UDAR representatives had held consultations with the UNO leadership. Vitaliy Kovalchuk stated that it is crucial to appoint a coordinator in charge of the people who have to temporarily change the place of residence. The coordinator should have the right to a prompt decision within the system of government. Also, UDAR faction head added that a proper legislative framework should be adopted for the people forced to temporarily change the place of residence.

Vitaliy Kovalchuk emphasized the need for adoption of technical regulations on customs procedures for rapid assistance if required.
