Rozenko: Some MPs are not ready to be re-elected under a transparent and democratic procedure

Parliament’s denial of a new electoral law hints that some politicians are reluctant to be re-elected under transparent procedures, UDAR MP Pavlo Rozenko commented to journalists at the sidelines of parliament.

"We predicted such development. We know that a number of political parties are not ready to apply transparent and democratic rules of the game at the upcoming elections," he added. Rozenko underlined that early parliamentary elections would probably be held under the current law. "As of today, there are no 226 votes for any new law or amendments to the law in force," Rozenko told journalists.

He said that nothing would disrupt lustration of power through elections.

At the same time, UDAR MP Oksana Prodan emphasized that UDAR faction voted for all the bills which provide for elections under open parties’ lists. "The fact that a part of the hall does not give votes is another argument to dissolve this parliament," she added.
