Kovalchuk: Law enforcement agencies should step up the fight not only against militants, but also against their financiers

Law enforcement agencies should strengthen the fight against not only ordinary combatants, but also their financiers and inspirers, the UDAR party emphasizes.

The head of the UDAR parliamentary faction Vitaliy Kovalchuk underlines that pro-Russian "fifth column" is still very active in Ukraine, promoting its anti-State ideas, trying to demoralize society, and uses illegal schemes for financing terrorists with the money earned in our country. "In this situation, the fight against terrorists in Donbas, identifying those preparing sabotage in the rear is like cutting branches instead of rooting out the problem. Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are actively working to break the existing schemes of ideological and financial support to terrorists," Kovalchuk said.

The party is convinced that the Interior Ministry, Security Service and Prosecutor General’s Office should show real effectiveness in detection and prosecution of Ukraine’s enemies in the rear. "Admittedly, some of them are hiding behind parliamentary immunity, but it cannot be an obstacle to their punishment. UDAR calls on Prosecutor General’s Office to prepare needed submissions on deprivation of the immunity concerning odious people. Our political party is ready to support the deprivation of their immunity. We are confident, that most deputies will act the same," Vitaliy Kovalchuk said.
