“Today Ukraine cannot be left alone facing challenges on its own. As now Ukraine is fairly an outpost of the struggle against aggressive separatism and terrorism in Europe. We should combat these challenges side by side, as this virus is spreading. Ukraine is a state in the centre of Europe, and Ukraine’s East is not that far as one can think,” Klitschko emphasized.
He stressed that developments in the East will determine if European values and principles can win, and what the world will be doing next few decades: investing in innovation and development, or spending funds and power to combat aggressive separatism and terrorism. “Believe me, I do not exaggerate. This is our fight for democracy, an everyday fight at every level, where we cannot be left alone,” he said.
During the panel, Klitschko underlined that Ukrainians had sealed their European aspirations with the Revolution of Dignity, and with the deaths of Ukrainians who fall for a democratic European future of their country. That is why Europe should support Ukraine on its way to the European Union.
The mayor stressed that world businesses should be active in Ukraine as never before to help Ukraine to become developed and strong. “As a representative of state power, I promise that we will do our best to implement successful reforms, combat corruption and build legal framework after the European example. But to make this happen, we need your assistance and involvement in Ukraine”, Klitschko emphasized.
