“Victoria Nuland and I planned a bilateral meeting during the Munich security conference. But it turned out that we took the same plane, so we decided not to postpone our conversation and talked for more than two hours,” Klitschko said. “We touched the issue of coordination of efforts and cooperation to stop Russia. The whole world understands that today it is crucial to deter aggression in the East of Ukraine. They understand that it is Russia who fans the flame,” Klitschko outlined.
Also, UDAR leader noted that the parties discussed the possibility of assistance of the USA in training Ukrainian military staff at the US military academies. “Of course, we touched the question of supplying arms to Ukraine. Our stance is the same, Ukraine must resist a powerful military machine. We have to defend. Only patriotism, courage and dedication of our people can hardly defend territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine,” Klitschko told journalists at the sidelines of the conference.
Also, Vitali Klitschko held a meeting with his Munich counterpart Dieter Reiter.
At the conference, Vitali Klitschko will deliver a speech at "Tackling state fragility and failure: the corruption dimension" panel with the Marshal of the Sejm of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski. The mayor will take part in a number of panel discussions on the ways of settling Ukrainian crisis.
At the conference Vitali Klitschko will hold meetings with the senator John McCain, Minister of National Defence of Canada Rob Nicholson, representatives of political and business circles.
