The EPP is the most powerful and influential political force in the EU. In many aspects, the future of the EU depends on the EPP decisions. It has always supported pro-European trail of Ukraine both in European Parliament and in the EU member countries, Vitali Klitschko told journalists on the sidelines of the assembly.
“EPP was always in favour of Ukraine’s integration into Europe. I am grateful for such support, which now is critical for us, while Ukraine is taking pains in making its way to Europe. I am grateful for a clear stance about sanctions against Russia, which, I am fully convinced, must be prolonged, and for support in establishing visa-free regime for Ukraine. In our turn, we must work hard to demonstrate success in reforms, real fight against corruption, which prevents transformations of the country. We must meet all necessary criteria,” Klitschko said
“Ukraine has chosen its way. It leads to Europe. We have already paid and keep on paying a high price. But there is no other choice and no other way for Ukraine," Vitali Klitschko stressed.
He remarked that Kyiv would continue to implement reforms and modern solutions in city management no matter how hard it might be, as these influence improvement of economic situation, security, and development of Kyiv as a European capital city.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of the European Council Donald Tusk, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, chairman of the EPP Group in European Parliament Manfred Weber, and other European politicians will be discussing future prospects of the EU at the assembly.
The Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko is attending the assembly, following the invitation by the EPP President Joseph Daul.
As for today, EPP encompasses 72 parties in 39 countries, having the largest faction in European Parliament.
