“First of all, I would like to thank you for the support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The assistance of our Western partners is very important for us on this difficult way. I would like to reach out to you as the person who is currently chairing the OSCE to intensify efforts and role of the organization in the process of freeing captives in Donbass, and increase the number of OSCE observers in the East of Ukraine”, said Klitschko addressing Kurz.
The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office remarked that the organization understood the situation and would consider the increase of the observers.
“To get complete and objective information from the very conflict zone, OSCE will consider this issue, and increase the number of observers who will inform the global community about the development of events in the East of Ukraine,” Klitschko told journalists.
He also pointed out that Ukraine and the ways of settling the situation in Donbass are discussed here at the majority of events of the MSC. “The topics as Donbass, sanctions against Russia, and reforms in our country – Ukraine is a key topic at the Munich Conference. I can stress that our Western partners do not perceive the information that is spread by Russian Federation because they understand that it is propaganda that has nothing in common with reality,” Klitschko said.
The mayor of Kyiv took part in the opening ceremony of the Munich Security Conference, and in several panel discussions. Also, meetings with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev and MEP Elmar Brok took place. On Saturday, Vitali Klitschko will be attending the first Ukrainian Lunch at the MSC, which is hosted by the Yalta European Strategy.
